    PID question

Since we are talking layman’s terms for me, now that we know what P does, what about I and D?

    PID question

Thank you Chopsaw. I did not know that!! That’s way more understandable.

    PID question

My smoker is one I built so I’m sure there is going to be some bumps in the road at first. I sure appreciate the tips though. From all y’all.

    PID question

Thanks for the tips guys!! I’m going to try lowering the P from 7 to 2 I did try running auto tune and it was a mess. My trend lines went from nice and straight with maybe a 1 degree swing to all wavy. I deal with control valves on a DCS every day, you’d think this wouldn’t be difficult...

Thanks Brokenhandle , I’ll take all the info I can get. I’ve tried reading up on it but sheeesh, it’s mind numbing.

    PID question

Thanks Olaf, it’s been a lot of work but I’ve enjoyed it!! My sausage smokes take about 6 hours so run time isn’t an issue. It just happened at a point where I was almost done ( the last step). I’m going to try changing it ASAP. I still have some deer left I could grind up but I need more...

    PID question

Thanks Olaf. I’ll change it and check it out on my next days off. I’m sure I can find something to throw in there!!! 12 lbs of snack sticks in now and it’s on its last step and almost to temp on the sticks.

    PID question

Olaf, thanks for the reply. Once it gets to setpoint it holds great, but for instance, when I was smoking sausage Tuesday it was moving from 155 to 165 and was at 20% to 70% most of the time. It took over half an hour to get to 165. I just think it would be at 100% output until it got closer to...

    PID question

I have an Auber PID WSD 1500 H-W and was wondering what input to adjust to make it not start “feathering “ back the element until it gets closer to Setpoint?

1st sausage in the new smoker

I think the Andouille with pepper jack and S&P are nailed down. The Cajun and cheese needs work. But that’s the fun part right?!

1st sausage in the new smoker

Thanks guys. Today it’s vac seal time. Might as well try one too huh? The S&P was really good when we tried the sample piece. This is the 1st time we have made it.

1st sausage in the new smoker

The interior is aluminum over 1/2 plywood. Behind that is OC thermafiber mineral wool insulation and 1x6’s on the outside.

1st sausage in the new smoker

I documented the whole thing in the electric smoker forum and didn’t realize until you ask that I don’t have a full front view of it. How does that happen? I’ll remedy that tomorrow. I do have some of it during the build though.
