easy, run it for half hour at 160 or so to burn the oil off with the damper to full open, then pick a choice of wood and run it at 225 for 4 hours and it's perfect..........you can spray some oil in there after the first burn and before the wood smoke burn, but that is totally up to...

cheap beer....that's all you need for grilling, unless your drinking it..... but when I say cheap....nothing below bud lite.....but no miller crude.....too much of there "petunia hop" taste........
other then that, dont use it, just grill and drink decent beer while doing it....
yea, actually about 145 for several hours would do and I'd keep the smoke on it longer then 2 hours.....but that is me...., not sure how pecan will do with it.....but will be interested in hearing......I'd do hickory myself for jerky....but that's just me........ good luck, let us know!!!!
no reason why they would not work, but I would think that is more expensive that way is all......well...then again you could buy one of those pellet mucher tragers!!!!
hey cookshack makes some nice smokers, dont get tied up the the "smoker snobs" and all....sure competition basically say's you must use fire and not gas or electric, but that does not mean gas and electric can't make good smoke.....I myself use a MES and love it....
Monty, you could easily omit the "teriyaki sauce" and just use soy sauce instead and it would be fine, granted you then might want to think of adding a tad more ginger and brown surgar.......I've used something very similar to this on ground beef teriyaki jerky in the past.......
