    It's arrived!

Yes I expect there to be a significant gradient, until I get my baffles and plates sorted! Ideally I'd like to convert to reverse flow. Just now I'm getting to grips with how the temp changes with fuel and air adjustments.

    It's arrived!

Wheels are really heavy duty. Everything is quite chunky. Assembly is very easy, just need to hold on to stop it rolling off... Firebox. I sealed all the joints with fireplace sealant. Nearly there... Done! Grills are enameled, which is nice. It has grates in the firebox and the...

    It's arrived!

Ha! Yes, but the pics obviously haven't shown up! At this stage, it's still really heavy and getting the polystyrene off the ends means careful support in the middle! Lots and lots of boxes all packed inside. Amazing packing! Now the thing is more manageable.

BBQ Pit Masters show on netflix

Yep,, it is cheesy, repetitive, american toss TV, 10 mins of footage stretched out to 30 mins, but one or two interesting bits in there. Certainly not a substitute for getting your own smoker fired up, that's for sure. Some quite impressive slabs of meat too.... I always felt hungry after...

    It's arrived!

My ASDA offset smoker arrived today! Man, is it heavy! 89kg! Just getting it out the box is quite a challenge. Once we got it out and extracted all the components, it's much easier to manage. Some pics here if you are interested. Need to make a fire basket, baffle and plates now. (and fix...

Looking for a smoker gril. Found the Oklahoma Joe Highland.

I'll add at least one more temp gauge. What material are you using for the baffle and tuning plates?

Looking for a smoker gril. Found the Oklahoma Joe Highland.

Wee I decided to bite the bullet and get one. Due next week. I found some blogs that show the mods to convert to reverse flow. I'll try it as is first and see how I get on. I will be interesting to see how much the temps vary from the hot end to cold end. I'll post some pics when it arrives!

BBQ Pit Masters show on netflix

Just wondered who else has watched this? I was amazed that one of the USA's most famous BBQ chefs Johnny Trigg, had never heard of, or cooked Pork Belly! I assume it's just not a common cut in the USA. Most of the competitors just cut the ribs off and then cooked the belly and ribs...

    Hello from Dorset.

Howdy from Dorset in the UK! After trying some real smoked brisket at the Great Dorset Chili Festival last year, I fancied having a go myself. They were using a huge reverse flow, on a trailer. The meat was amazing. I have BBQ'd direct over charcoal for years, but slow and low smoking is new...

Looking for a smoker gril. Found the Oklahoma Joe Highland.

Hi all. New to smoking and wanted to give it a go. After learning about reverse flow smokers, I considered fabricating my own from scratch, then I found the Oklahoma Joe Highland, for a very good price at Asda online. (It appears to have been even cheaper last year, but we are in peak BBQ...
