You should clean the sensors. The sensors are similar to what I see in my (work world) trust me clean them from time to time. You don't need to clean them every time. The round flat sensor is the high limit and it won't work that great if it's covered with gunk which won't allow it to sense...
Thanks for the compliments on the house. A big cookie sheet propped up on top of the smoker would work for keeping the rain off as long as it's mostly falling straight down.
Ok here's a good one. I have a full hand print on the glass that keeps coming back no mater how much I clean the glass. I've used dish soap with paper towels, scrub pad and dry rubbed it with a paper towel and it still appears. Next think might be alcohol.
