    1st smoke and disappointed

I had company come over to enjoy the pulled pork, so I could not post a follow-up. My second smoke was a success! The meat was so tender I could not believe it and the flavor was terrific. We had pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, slaw, and chocolate oreo icecream. Everyone was satisified...

    1st smoke and disappointed

Round 2 starts in about 45 minutes... this time a butt. I've been reading through the helpful and ecouraging posts, and seems my number 1 mistake was to get too hung up on time, rather than let the meat tell the tale. Internal temp is the key, as others have pointed out. I picked up a new...

    1st smoke and disappointed

seems from what I've read, Sam's meat is a good bet. As far as thermometers go, what should I get? The $16 Wal-Mart got a good review. I would not mind a dual meat/smoker electric combo. Any suggestions?

    1st smoke and disappointed

no, I didn't get a chance to smoke today. I am rewiring the electrical panel in an old Porsche I'm restoring. Before I knew it, 5 hrs had passed... I am off on Fridays, so I'll try again then. Thanks for asking! Chris

    1st smoke and disappointed

sorry, this is a double post. The consensus seems to be the temps are messed up. I am planning on getting a wireless so temps should no longer be an issue. It's just odd that the temp on my multimeter (which is very accurate) matched that on the door and both were off?? Anyway, thanks for...

    1st smoke and disappointed

Based on the replys, something is up with the temp. It's odd, that both thermos read the same temp. I'm wanting to get a wireless thermometer anyway, so maybe that will help. As for spritzing, I probably only hit it about 3 times, and then add some to the foil. I had read opening the door...

    1st smoke and disappointed

cool I will say, the mesquite smoke with the apple juice and 99 Bannanas liquor spritz was very good. I may try again tomorrow.

    1st smoke and disappointed

I have a multimeter with a temp probe. I ran it through one of the exhaust vents to just above the meat. I read the same as the door thermo.

    1st smoke and disappointed

I had a second thermo and both read the same temp. The package said back ribs, but I can't recall the brand and the trash has already been taken out. I have NEVER been able to cook a good rib. I was hoping this smoker would end the curse.

    1st smoke and disappointed

I smoked some babyback ribs on my Brinkmann vertical dual door today and I'm not happy with the results. Smoked them at 250 the first hour, settled to 225 the rest of the time. They were on the rack for 3 hrs, foiled for 3.5 (guests were running late), and finished on the rack for 45 mins...
