Nice run in the smoker - chicken, sausage, jalapenos

No kidding! We have had multiple days in a row north of 100. When I opened my instant read to check the chicken it read over 100, I didn't pay much attention but I did chuckle inside. Stay cool, the weather is a drag on outdoor life!

Nice run in the smoker - chicken, sausage, jalapenos

Thanks, it was a quick salsa but adding the smoked jalapenos gives it a nice character along with lime juice and salt. We didn't grow any hot peppers this year so just red and green Serrano and Jalapeno.

Nice run in the smoker - chicken, sausage, jalapenos

Thank you! I won't lie, for normal lunch food like this I zap it @1200 watts for a few seconds and enjoy. For lunch that normally looks like a bowl of sliced medallions of sausage, 3 or 4 fresh hot peppers and a hunk of cheddar. The chicken, I'd probably turn it in to chicken salad. If I...

Nice run in the smoker - chicken, sausage, jalapenos

It's been so hot I needed to minimize my time outside so I smoked a mess of things to help bridge the week for us. Nothing fancy, just good eats. A variety of sausages, should have found something else to finish loading it up. Thighs and drums. Jalapenos for salsa. Was able to scavenge...

    In The Market For Washer/Dryer

Fair enough, sometimes wives can get fixated on stuff that isn't urgent or important (guys too). We bought used appliance out of the want adds for years, a viable option. I only buy used cars and trucks for example, 3-5 years old.

In another forum I frequent focused on remote Cabin living (we have a cabin in the mountains) I recently posted looking for advice on a new fridge. Our old one (4 years young) died earlier this year. It was a Maytag basic top freezer model with a 10 year compressor warranty. I realize the op...

    Lets talk burger patty makers

I have one similar, bottom is slotted and it has hole to make release easier. I toss a little rub/pepper/etc in it first and the meat pops right out. It makes 1/3 lb burgers. The press lid is worthless, by just using your hands you can push out a dozen patties real quick and 100% uniform...

    Primo Lasagna

Thanks everyone, was a little bit of a different grill session but works well. Sitting around 100 today, not cooking outside! Wife is doing beef tortellini in the crock pot. Busy weekend, outdoor movie and 60 hotdogs on the grill last night (another club member helped with that) and I...

    In The Market For Washer/Dryer

Speed Queen (made by Alliance Laundry Systems) offers some of the best warranties in the residential laundry appliance industry, far exceeding the typical 1-year coverage from most brands. Warranties are model-specific, are transferable to new owners, and generally include parts and in-home...

    In The Market For Washer/Dryer

Quiet often I suspect folks don't consider the added cost of extended warranties when they compare the cost of Speed Queen to others. Your scenario is exactly what I got tired of dealing with. Constant breaks, downtime, service calls, water on the floor.

They do and they are great, same tech you see in Laundromats everywhere. They are engineered and tested for over 10,000 wash cycles, that's 25 years of typical household use. We love ours.

    In The Market For Washer/Dryer

I got tired of buying new washers every 3-5 years, it's all junk at Lowes, home depot. Bought a speed queen and never looked back. It's so quiet you can't tell it's running, the model I bought came with a 7 year parts and labor warranty. White glove delivery, great experience.

    BGE maiden cook- Pork Butt

try wood chips mixed in, a few large hand fulls, also, I have good luck using 2 or 3 large chunks placed around the edges of the lump work well. If near the center they'll burn up quick. Try starting your fire in the center and letting it burn out towards the edges. You'll get nice even heat...

    Sauce for smoked brisket

I don't typically sauce but in a pinch some sweet baby rays mixed 50/50 with apple cider vinegar is pretty good. Cuts down the sweetness, adds a nice flavor, and the acid can help cut the fat on your pallette. Sometimes after I'm done pulling a pork butt I'll mix just about 1/4 cup of that mix...
