    Well, I tried all those things but nothing helped.  So I postponed my brisket till next week...hope it will be warmer, maybe as high as 20!!!!  Would be a heat wave up here!!  Thanks for the advice!

    Anyone ever have a problem with a 30" MES not turning on in cold weather?  Its about 3 deg above outside and I started my normal routine for my smoker (in the garage with the door partially open, same outlet as normal, large gauge cord, etc).  But when I try to turn on the MES it wont turn on...

    MES is a Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse....there is a thread that gives a list of definitions/acronyms.  It can be found here: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/73935/acronyms I am new too and this helped me!!!!

    Yes, I did use an electric...I have a MES 30...now that I have started smoking, I know that I will be getting a non-electric at some point.  Just not sure when my wife will forget my MES is still new!

    So, I did my first brisket this weekend...they didn't have whole briskets, so I had to use quartered...which was probably good for my first try.  It turned out pretty good, need to make some changes to my rub but wasn't too shabby.  Also threw somecountry style ribs on for a few hours...so...

    Well...it went great!  Everyone LOVED the pork loin....super tender and the smokeyness was AWESOME!!!  Can tell I am addicted to this already!!!!
