I'm a licensed airline mechanic and have done the troubleshooting from end to end. The controller is a cheap Chinese circuit board and simply fails ..i just hope Masterbuilt stands behind their product or else I have an expensive box sitting on the deck.

Ive tried multiple outlets. When the magic smoke comes out of the controller, you know it's dead .

So when your fancy new smoker died within minute of setting it up, you get a sinking feeling. Then when Masterbuilt sends you a brand new controller, you feel great! Then 2 1/2 hours of unplugging and restarting the thing while trying to smoke some baby backs, you get that old feeling again...
