Got a new custom Maverick Meat Probe in the works.... your prayers will be answered!

So Mav may have pulled a fast one here.... looks like the 2.5mm plug on the end is a non-standard length.... Looks to be like 14mm [0.55"] long instead of the standard 11mm [0.433"]. Can anyone whip out a ruler and verify this? No point in me sending out items if they won't even plug in...

    Maverick et 732 meat probe

Yep - silicone is pretty high temperature and highly moisture resistant. Like you said, won't make them waterproof but will def add some much needed moisture resistance. And it is best done on a virgin part as you stated. The BEST method is to heat the probe up to about 400F, then apply your...

    Maverick et 732 meat probe

Yep - likely moisture intrusion inside the probe creating a resistance change in the sensor and throwing your readings off. The Mav items use a CRAZY STUPID sensitive sensor that is not sealed from moisture very well. After a couple of smokes, you can get a buildup of water / oil / fat inside...

Got a new custom Maverick Meat Probe in the works.... your prayers will be answered!

OK well.... they ain't pretty, but hey if they were I couldn't call them engineering samples! So here's the deal - I don't have stock on the ACTUAL wire I want to use, so I have to play Dr. Frankenstein with 2 different wires I have laying around to provide a decent length for testing. Also...

Got a new custom Maverick Meat Probe in the works.... your prayers will be answered!

I've got PM's from some people and a couple people in this thread as well. Unfortunately I only ordered enough material for 10 probes up front, so I'll be sending them out on a 'first come first serve' basis depending on whom contacted me first. Also, my sensor manufacturer is still backordered...

Got a new custom Maverick Meat Probe in the works.... your prayers will be answered!

Hey guys, One of my part time hobbies is building custom items, whether it be a speaker box for a car stereo installation, a portable solar array for weekend getaways, or my latest endeavor - a 1000W electric bike with 35+ mile range. I absolutely love my bike, but I absolutely hate having to...

Anyone try the new Maverick 735 Waterproof probes?

Yes they are waterproof - the steel probe is fully sealed with an encapsulant designed to bond to the Teflon wires. They are however, not compatible with the Maverick controllers. Listed up on ebay under "BBQ Guru Probe ver 2", or you can PM me for direct sale if you just want to use Paypal...

Anyone try the new Maverick 735 Waterproof probes?

Hey Chris, The Maverick probes are a bit tricky and have components on the inside that are hard to source, unless of course you buy 1000 of them at a time.... I'm trying to get manufacturers to cut me a break, but they have very little interest in selling small quantities at a time for a...

    Frustrated with Mavericks probes

I feel all your pain... lol... TBH - it's sad Maverick decided to cut so many corners on these and not make the investments for a quality product. I've done a teardown on these items, and their are lots of areas they could have made minor changes to prevent the common failures. Believe me - if...

Hey all, Just wanted to let you know I'm selling low cost HOMEMADE replacement meat / pit probes for the BBQ Guru smokers. I got tired of paying nearly $25 for replacement parts and didn't like the way they were built, so I bought some materials and started making my own. Everyone that used...
