I really like that idea about the air inlet. I'm eventually going to mod another ecb and I'll definitely do that. Great trick!

Good questions bill. Never really considered pvc but steel would be a good alternative to save some dough. I had to increase the separation distance because it was too short initially (

Labor day weekend brisket - just sharing

As I mentioned above, I buy from two sources. The Amish market ($4.59/lb) or costco ($5.29/lb). At Costco, you have to ask in the meat section if there are any untrimmed briskets in the back. They look at you like you are crazy and ask "are you sure" several times, then someone heads back and...

    Labor day pulled pork.

The butt just fished resting ladies and gents......this has to be in the top three. Finishing it off with a pineapple habanero sauce and that's all she wrote.

Labor day weekend brisket - just sharing

First on price, the sale price here is $4.59/pound. When they are out, I have to go to Costco and pay $5.26/pound. You guys in TX are lucky as heck. Congrats on a successful smoke. I was worried over trimmed at first but it looks like it didn't matter. I've been taking them out of the pit...

6 am too early for this crap.

I usually sleep while my brisket is going and set alarms for pit temp using the pittdoroid app. If I start at midnight, I'll usually add coals at 6am. I smoke at 225-230. It takes 12-14hrs to get them done.

Totally worth it. I put mine on at midnight tonight. Should be ready just in time for labor day lunch.

    Brisket success!

Did my 4th 14hr brisket and won my second competition. I mean when you bring a brisket pie to a pie competition, you know you're going to win!

Welcome to the ECB Users Group

Gary, I use a raspberry pi controller on my ECB attached to a computer fan. It wasn't to difficult to assemble, I set temps from my computer or phone and let it be.  You can use it on more than one smoker as well.  Totally worth it!

    ECB Mods

Just thought I'd share my mods. I also have the ECB-Smoke-N-Grill. Out the box, it was obviously terrible and I made all the common mods. Drilled vent holes, installed two thermometers etc. I still couldn't get good heat, so I placed a piece of sheet metal cut into a circle inside the charcoal...
