I agree, dirtsailor2003. From my own experience, not only will the smoke have no problem permeating the skin, along with brining, the skin also protects the meat from drying out. Besides, it's easier to remove the skin after cooking, and unlikely that anyone will ask for an extra helping of skin...
Are you currently grilling on either charcoal or gas? The reason I ask is that you might want to consider a grill for grilling, and a smoker for smoking.
