Well I took your advice and used a turkey roaster pan and made quick work of it. Water was 165 and IT started around 37 and I took it to 153. Thanks for the help.
I have 17lbs of this stuff, not going to be easy on the stove. Is it possible to throw them back in the smoker or oven and finish them up? Also I have a 2 probe maveric, and had one probe in a stick length wise and the other at mid rack height. There is a difference in smoker temp depending on...
OK guys I had done some of the summer sausage sticks last year and they turned out great. I was in a hurry and didnt take the time to do my research on here. I didnt mix any beef or pork, straight venison. I used backwoods seasoning which has the pink salt cure packet. I really was in a rush...
Hey smokers, I built my first smoke house awhile back and just dont use it as much as I should. My gas grill is on its last leg and Im thinking about modding my smoke house to double duty as a grill and smoke house. My thought is to get rid of the circle burner below and fab up a normal grill...
Im also looking for a good place in the Howell area. I am done buying what looks to be good meat from Walmart/Meijer only to cook it and end up with mostly fat. Im talking roasts and larger cuts of meat, where you cant tell what you have till you cut into it.
Fuzzy Im unsure about that, this was my first smoker build. I was also warned about oils in the cedar and told i should "season" the wood with heat/smoke before cooking in it to seal in the oils. While there are different types of cedar and this appearing to not be the threatening red cedar, I...
I originally had plans and then it kinda morphed as I went along. If you want certain dims like internal box size, or external, you can calculate the other stuff
based on knowing I used 2x4's and their orientation in the pics. I can smoke a lot in this, likely bigger than I would ever need to...
Wow these all look great and I found this post cause I bought a loin last night. A quick question, since Im new to smoking, but I have found I get the internal temp desired, but often find the meat still pink. I eat it, but my family thinks its not done yet. I noticed in the first pics Bear...
Depends on distance from wood to burner. My doors aren't lined and the lower one gets pretty hot. I see your on a cement slab so you want have to worry about the floor catching fire. Outside of smoking, I believe Ive read about cement popping/chunking from moisture and then getting hot. Only a...
Ok here is an update with pics. Here is the sticker off the .88 cent pizza pan from meijer.
Here is how its installed, best pic I could get without pulling the burner.
Got a Maverick 733 for Xmas. Wasn't sure where or how to mount it, but got an idea when I saw this water proof box for $10.
I looked at the masterbuilt smoker at cabelas yesterday, not sure which model. It had about 8 racks and looked very nice for $250. I haven't added my receipts, but bet. Have $500+ into mine. I could have done a lot of smoking in that masterbuilt for half the price. I enjoyed my build, but in...
