Tried my first turkey. Thanks to all who put their time in to post and give GREAT info to all who are "rookies" out there. I would not be as successful as I have been without you!
I did a 24 hour brine.
1 cup course salt
1 cup brown sugar
Couple oranges
Large onion chopped
Bunch O' garlic...
This was made with Hi-Mountain mix but done in my MES Smoker. It has the same maroon color. It taste FANTASTIC!!! Used it a few times and same color everytime, so it is normal.
I used the AMNPS with Pitmasters choice pellet. I filled the entire maze. This is suppossed to give you about 10-11 hrs of smoke. I actually threw Hickory wood chips in the wood tray 2 times in the first 2 hours prior to going to bed for a little extra smoke. When I woke up it had burned thru...
I bought the one at Sams about 6 weeks ago and it works FANTASTIC. I highly recommend it. Like you, the set it forget mentality is more my style as well. Have done ribs, whole chickens, pork shoulder and a brisket now. They all turned out to perfection! Couldn't be happier!
Well I attempted my first Brisket this past weekend. Bought an 8 LB flat from Sams. I rubbed her down with a homemade rub couple hours prior to throwing it in. Set smoker at 235 degrees. Put it in at 10:00 at night. Checked on it at 8:00 in the morning and we were at 180 IT. Let it go till about...
I am a newbie as well. I have a 40" MES BT like you. I learned about the AMNPS on this forum and bought one because of all the rave reviews for it with this smoker. Our smoker you need to load wood chips every hour. Or, with AMNPS 5X8 tray you can fill with wood pellets to smoke up to 12 hours...
Thanks for the feedback guys, it is appreciated!!!
Joe, I have been to the Boeing plant in Charleston many times. I must say it sure is BEAUTIFUL in those parts! Definitely a place I would consider moving too!
Finished product! Could not have done it without all the great info on here. The pork was amazing and JUICY! Pulled it at 148 IT. Wrapped in foil for 30 minutes and came out great! Pulled the chicken at 163 IT and let it rest for 30 minutes! Super Juicy! Followed the nekkid chicken recipe. Used...
Just threw in my bacon wrapped pork loin and a couple of chickens! Can't wait to taste the results! Rubbed the loin with mustard and a homemade rub last night. Doing the famous nekkid chicken recipe from the forum.
Greetings All!
New to the forum and the "world" of smoking. Have always had the love and taste for it, but have only played around a bit on my BBQ. I joined this forum and read and researched for hours. I took the plunge and bought the MES 40 BT and also the AMNPS 5 X 8 tray. I would like to...
Well I made the "plunge" into this new world of BBQ finally! I received my 5 X 8 AMNPS in the mail yesterday. Went to Sams and picked up the MES 40 BT and it is fully assembled. Will be running my seasoning cycle today. Plan to throw a couple of slabs of babybacks in tomorrow.
I would like to...
Thanks! Been doing tons of research and probably spent 3 hours reading on this forum yesterday. Learned tons! I am new to all of this and ready to pull the trigger now. It appears from eveything I have read that you can't go wrong with this unit as a "newbie", or a seasoned veteran!
