    Indiana smokers

A little late to this thread, but I am in Nappanee.  That is just south east of South Bend.

    Maverick ET-732

When I first got mine, I thought mine was defective because I kept getting the LLL. My problem: the probe wasn't plugged into the unit all the way.  Sounds simple, but it looked like it was plugged all the way in.  The only reason I figured it out was because the two plugs of the probes looked...

    First Fatty w/ Q-View

Over the weekend I smoked my first fatty on my weber kettle grill.  It was my first time smoking something on the grill, and it was surprisingly easy to maintain the temperature.  The filling was bacon, mild cheddar, and sauteed portabella mushrooms and onions.  I used Italian sausage with the...

Thanks everyone! Yup Dave Ramsey (modified plan ).  I have intentions of doing a pork butt on mine very soon, after I get a reliable remote thermometer to better control my temp.  I'm thinking of the Maverick 732.

Padawan Smoker from Amish Country, Indiana

I am from Nappanee, IN. I have a weber performer grill.  I have plans on making a whole-hog-size smoker once I have established my emergency fund (financial responsibility trumps bbq ).  I've been perusing for a couple weeks now and have learned quite a bit (especially acronyms like TBS, ABS...

    New Trailer Build (Preplanning)

Dave, Thanks for the reply.  I guess I never calculated the size feeding that many people.  That is more than I will ever need.  Maybe I will scale it back to half that! Your 5x2 french door idea: This would eliminate needing to crouch below heavy and hot doors if eye-level racks are not a...
