Fireboard vs Tappeque (Or other options)

Hello all, I have used an iGrill2 for the past 4 or 5 years and am ready to upgrade. Bluetooth doesn't reach my entire house, so it's difficult to watch a football game on Sundays and monitor my smoker unless I leave my phone halfway up the staircase... I feel confident that I want to go with...

    MES 40 and AMPS

Hello all! I just added an electric smoker to my collection (https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/masterbuilt-mes-140s-40-in-digital-stainless-steel-electric-smoker-with-window) and ordered an AMPS. It seems that most people recommend using this over the wood chip compartment that is built in...

    Masterbuilt 30" 2 Door

@Lamar  I'm considering doing the same thing.  I've never worked with metal, was it easy to cut the pieces and install them?  Any rec. on what type of sheet metal I buy?  Also..have you noticed enough of a difference to make it worth the time?

Masterbuild XL Mods - Post your mods here!

Has anybody done anything about building a wind break?  I'm considering buying some sheet metal and attaching to the side legs and across the back.  I'll leave the front untouched.  Any thoughts?

Initial Setup and Using the Masterbuilt Vertical Propane Smoker

Has anybody done anything to build a wind break?  I remember seeing a pic of stacked bricks..but I really don't wan to stack bricks around it on my deck.  I'm considering doing something with sheet metal around the sides and back by the legs. Thoughts?

First Chicken Smoke - Brining Question

I'm interested in smoking chicken for the first time.  Typically when I prep beef, I let it sit in its rub all night.  Most recipes that I've found that us a brine say to brine 3-4 hours.  Will it hurt anything if I let it brine for 7+ hours?  I'm considering putting it in the brine in the AM...

    Needle Valve Question

@fuzzy0026  The valve above should work fine for what you need.  Just be prepared to go to the hardware store to get some extra fittings.  It took me about 10 minutes to assemble.

    Needle Valve Question

Just wanted to follow up.  I ended up going with just the needle valve and used some extra pieces to get it to fit.  I didn't find any negative posts about the regulator in line with the hose, but I found WAY more people who were excited about the valve so I decided to play it safe.   I...

    2-2-1 Method Question

Lance -  Turned out great.  My brisket wasn't as juicy as it normally is...but it was an 8 pounder...so I think it just had less fat.  The flavor was great on brisket and ribs.  Here are pics...

    Needle Valve Question

Thanks @SmokinAl  ...That works the same as the other needle valve?  Also...I saw in some of the posts you mentioned something about a thermal blanket.  I tried following links to see where you explained it, but I couldn't find it.  Did that make a big difference with regulating temps?  If...

    Needle Valve Question

Hey folks... I currently have a MB propane smoker.  I did my first smoke this past weekend and the temps were all over the place.  I didn't adjust anything and left the vents the same just to see the range of fluctuation...it would be as low as 205 and then as high as 245 within 15-20 minutes...

How do keep your logbook, if you keep one?

I also use evernote.  I created a notebook for my BBQ log.  I like evernote b/c it's easy to document with pictures and text.  Also, it syncs across devices and I can add recipes and other ideas to it from the internet version of evernote. I like the idea of the website that Sundown uses.
