Questions about Traeger or pellet smokers in general

Hum? That really sparks my curiosity as well?? So its the smoked meat smell, not the smoke?? Do you wrap your meat and let it rest? I know on my end, when I smoke ribs, beef, etc. I had that smell thing going on but not bad. So I tried wrapping the meat in foil after removing from cooker, then...

    Pit boss pellets question

Wish that I still had the bag! I did have same thing happen with the Lumberjack Mesquite. You will see in the photos a stack of 100% Lumberjack Pellets. Already had used the 100% Mesquite. Look what I found in my stack, 2 bags that are like the pecan blend, but Mesquite Blend. Nothing on front...

    Storage Of Stuff

Ah, nice trick with the Shop Vac. I have used it to clean out dust from the hopper. Like your idea. I use a small 1 gallon Shop Vac to clean out bottom of chamber too. Do you keep the paper filter inside or did you remove it? Thanks

Questions about Traeger or pellet smokers in general

Sounds delicious! Have not tried a chuck roast yet. I had the same problem with smoke smelling up the house. When I would open the patio door, the smoke rushes in unseen, but you can smell it. Then we covered out deck with an aluminum roof, which then trapped the smoke from the stack. Went to...

Questions about Traeger or pellet smokers in general

Last Spring I purchased a Traeger Lil Tex due to its smaller size. I only cook for 2 people so it works great. Only negative is high temp. As with smaller propane grills, smaller the size, lower BTU's. Smart of Camp Chef to do the sear box. Except that the sear box requires a propane tank. I...

    Storage Of Stuff

I started pellet smoking last year. Naturally, went on buying spree for many brands/flavored pellets. Ended up with an entire wall of stacked bags of pellets. Keep them stacked flat in our finished basement. Then I purchased white 2 gallon painters plastic buckets and lids at Home Depot. Each...

    Pit boss pellets question

I purchased a bag of Lumberjack 100% pecan on Amazon for decent price. Following week, saw it for less money, ordered another bag. When received, it said "pecan blend" but looks identical to the 100% pecan bag. Caught me by surprised as at the time, I thought when the bag says 100% Hardwood, it...

    Pit boss pellets question

I purchased a Traeger last Spring and have learned to appreciate pellet cooking. Have tried several brands of flavored pellets. Have had excellent results with any bag of Pit Boss pellets. The size of the pellets are smaller than some brands which makes feeding flawless. Low ash and consistent...

    First Attempt at Bacon

The a-Mazen smoking device is the way to go for your bacon. I recently purchased the 5x8 maze, works great! Nice cold smoke. Filled the 1st row to the end and had 5 hours of low slow smoke. Was cold smoking pork ribs in my charcoal BBQ, remained at 175 degrees. Had a pound of store brand bacon...
