My Smoker went up in a Blaze of Glory... Need recommendations/ideas on new build.

Wow, you are a piece of work... I did follow the advice of the post 14 months ago and had zero issues. My smoker was operating awesomely until yesterday. But I guess you can't get off your high horse. Your quest to be right has clearly affected your ability to be objective. And your...

I am leaning toward a cabinet style. Large enough for 2 turkeys and multiple racks for jerky (hanging or trays). d1

No issues with smoker burner since the date of post you referenced. I used the replies from that thread to dial in the flame. d1

No worries. Not sure why you are taking it personal. I have a good idea on what happened and how to prevent it in the future build. That is not why I started this thread. Good day to you sir. d1

Possibly. I am really looking for ideas on the new build. This thread has turned into a "CSI" event on what happened to the old smoker.

So, Turkey Day did not go as planned. Lost a smoker, but still have the house and all family members intact. So all in all a good end of day result. Not sure of cause, but assume a faulty regulator (I opened up the regulator the next day and found the diaphragm was damaged, which more than...

Northern Tool Heavy Duty Burner question...

Ok I installed a shelf surrounding the burner (I cut a hole for the burner). It is not 100% sealed off from the CC, as there is a gap between the shelf and door. I also drilled three 3" holes in the floor under the burner. I started burning propane and got it up to temperature and regulated...

Northern Tool Heavy Duty Burner question...

Compared to your smoker, my setup is definitely lacking air intake. I currently have one 3" hole and two 2" holes. The exhaust openings are two 6" holes. Do you happen to know the appropriate ratio for intake to exhaust? Thanks for your reply.

Northern Tool Heavy Duty Burner question...

I drilled one 3" hole under the burner last night. It seemed to help. If I drill more holes, do you recommend openings in the floor or sides?

Northern Tool Heavy Duty Burner question...

I will try drilling new holes first. Is there such a thing as having too much air intake (aside from strong winds)?

Northern Tool Heavy Duty Burner question...

Understood. If I create a shelf with a hole cut out to accommodate burner ring and drill multiple holes in bottom of smoker to allow more air in, will that suffice?

Northern Tool Heavy Duty Burner question...

So if I create a "shelf" that is flush with burner ring, does the shelf have make contact on all four sides of the smoker? Or is a slight gap acceptable? Thanks for taking time to post your advice. d1
