    Marinating a Brisket?

Thanks for all the replies.  He decided that experimenting with a brisket is too risky for a block party and is going with Tri Tip instead.  He does cook a mean Tri Tip. Thanks again.

Cold Smoked Tri-Tip and Sous Vide

That is gorgeous.  It belongs on the cover of a cooking magazine.

Looking for Suggestions on a new Electric Smoker....other than a Masterbuilt 40" Bluetooth

I've only done 2 at a time, and like what was already stated, I think you might be hard pressed to get more than 3 total, depending how big the butts were, of course.

    Marinating a Brisket?

My son is participating in a block party on Father's Day and was thinking about marinating a brisket.  He asked me and I don't know.  I'm not a huge brisket fan myself; too beefy tasting (if that makes any sense), so I thought I would throw the question out to the Pros. Has anybody tried it? ...

    Fire Management

I have a BGE and love it for ribs and tri tip.  Because of the dome design, it really doesn't just smolder.  It creates a convection and really does circulate the heat (and smoke).  Of course we can't see that happening because the magic stops whenever we raise the lid.  Also, the ceramic is a...

Well, to get back to your original question, I've had the Traeger Lil' Tex for about 4 years now and really do love it.  I also have a BGE, but normally use the Traeger because of the ease.  The temp is consistent.  The only issue I had was the control module failed under warranty, but they sent...

    What is this stuff

That's happened to me a couple of times, to the point that it got so gummed up it sheared the small bolt that attaches the auger to the motor.  I make sure to leave it in a dry environment now...normally under the cover my son bought me.

Newbie With A Tri Tip Question.

That was my intention, but time just got away from me.  Because it was so done, I bypassed the reverse sear.  Maybe next time.

Newbie With A Tri Tip Question.

Well, I underestimated the cook time and I pulled it at 143 degrees.  Pretty tender, but not juicy...and grey.  It did have a nice smoke ring though.  Maybe next time I'll lay off the marinade.  A bit salty.

Newbie With A Tri Tip Question.

Hi all.  My name is Chuck and I live in Oakdale CA.  I've been BBQing for awhile, but I want to try and get some experience with smoking.  I have a Traeger  Lil Tex and a Big Green Egg.   As I'm typing this, I have a Tri Tip in the fridge and plan on smoking it tomorrow.  I put a rub on it...
