Hi! I’m Rooster.
I was born at a very early age. I know this because my mother was there at the time and she told me about it. I grew up in various parts of the country because my dad was a 30 year Navy vet. But the place that will always be home to me is Texas. My early formative years were spent there. Most of my family is there. To me it just happens to be the greatest country on earth. I am presently sojourning in the Southern Appalachian area of North West Georgia. I enjoy this area and the folks who live here. I’ve been here since 1975 after all. I met the love of my life here. Raised a family here and I’m sure they all feel attached to this place like I do to Texas. But it still ain’t Texas.
I inherited my love of food and cooking from my mom. My corny sense of humor was all Dad. I used to watch my mom whirl around the kitchen almost like a ballet or a martial arts demonstration. As a small child I thought it was almost magical. As I matured I began realizing what genius it took to choreograph a meal. That part I don’t think I got from Mom. I still have trouble getting the differing parts of a meal to come together at the same time.
We all used to love watching my Dad laugh at some dumb joke, or a prank, until his face turned so red we started worrying. My wife says I do the same sometimes.
People ask me why I’m called Rooster? Well, my dad was stationed at Quonset Point in ’63 so I was born in Rhode Island, I have/had red hair, Rhode Island Red…Rooster. (NO I ain’t a Yankee)
