    So, I checked out a Kill-A-Watt meter from the library and plugged in the salvaged dishwasher element.  I started at 800 watts and after a few minutes was down to around 400.  I then hooked it into the appropriate spot in the old dishwasher and plugged in the meter and found the same thing...
