Got a little more done today. Next weekend I plan on doing the stack and vents and lid stop hopefully. And the drain Pipe and damn for end of the rf plate.
Didn’t get much progress done today the weather didn’t hold out.
I did get the cc and fb welded together solid, the reverse flow plate cut and welded in, the rack for the cooking grated welded in, and two of the top holes filled and welded. I’m gonna leave the other two open for now and cover...
Yea I gotta get a bigger machine from work to fully weld up the firebox to cc don’t wanna push my dads mig that hard. It really isn’t wanting to lay down in the 1/4
Thanks for the insight
I decided to go with some 5/8 rod bent into some pipe for the hinges. When I laid it out it seems like it should clear the trim. If not I’ll make some taller raised hinges out of some of the 1/4 plate.
Got the lid cut and thankfully it kept its shape pretty good
Build update
After a 2 hour rain delay I got the tank cut open and a lid installed on the fire box. Got the firebox hard tacked to the tank my dads 110 mig just didn’t really wanna do the job and I didn’t want to push his stuff that hard it was wide open wire speed and amps so I’ll get the...
The tank is 24”. OD And 3/16 wall
so I came up with 23.625” id
So 11.8125 radius if. All my math is correct
Plugging into the calculator
Fb/cc opening
Area under rf plate
And areas at the end of plate was 117.48
And On that note, area under plate I’m confused on that one isn’t that just the...
It was a 120 gallon my mistake. And then this taller cylinder was given to me today as well so might as well do a patio smoker and use it to upset the cost of mine
I hope to get started this weekend on it I got a 130 gallon tank. I was going to go with a 250 because I can get old propane tanks here from 40-70 dollars depending on the size all day long but this 130 was giving to me. So frees better. But a quick call to the metal shop a 4x8 sheet of 1/4 is...
Hey y’all
I’ve been reading through for a while on rf builds about to do another one, but this time the right way.
There’s a lot of very good information here so I figured I would join and contribute where I could.
