    SmokinGirl2 got a BGE!!!

Just got my XL and can't stop singing the praises of the BGE. This is what I've learned so far. Don't put your meat on until the fir has been going for at least 20 minutes. This will alow the charcoal to settle into a "clean" burn. I use wood chunks, cut into about 2 ounce pieces. I used four of...

Windbreak ideas for Smoke Vault 24

I removed the side vents, flattened out the vent "stop" so I could close the vent completely, and then replaced the vent. Now it turns 360 degrees and I can close it completely. No need for a wind break.

Is a propane smoker worth it?

I have to respectfully disagree with some saying that you can't make good Q from a propane grill. Let me qualify this by saying I have a camp chef smoke vault and I really like it, but some times I don't feel like lugging it out of the garage. I have a UDS also, but sometimes I'm feeling lazy...

    Best smoker under $400

I have the wide body Camp Chef Smoke Vault. I love it. very easy to use, has a good temp gauge and a thick cast iron chunk tray. I use good siized wood chunks and it's very easy to the thin blue rolling. Hope this helps.

ribs on Masterbuilt lp gas smoker

I would rub them with your favorite rub about an hour before smoking. Be sure your rub doesn't have too much salt in it. Ive found that if I leave the rub on any longer, the ribs tend tend to taste "hammy". Smoke them on the middle rack. Add two or three batches of chips. Because you don't know...

New Smoke Hollow 44" Dual-Door Smoker - Photos Added

The only thing I did not like about this smoker are the chip/chunk pans. They are very thin and it looks line you would burn through chips/chunks line there's no tomorrow. I was wondering if you could buy a couple of cast iron loaf pans and take a plasma cutter to them to cut them the same...

New to smoking, need help with new smoker.

Have you looked into the GOSM wide body smoker from walmart? It will fit a whole rack of ribs laying down flat so there is no need to cut them in half. It is made by Landman and gets pretty good reviews. I have the smaller version of it and use it as my primary butt cooker. It works very well.

    new to abt"s

Good luck on your quest to find jalapenos. The slamonella scare has made the very difficult to find (at least for me). All the recipes posted above are very good. Be warned, they are like potaote chips.....you can't eat just one! Very easy going down, but the next day not so much!

    Dónde están los fajitas?

I forgot to mention that you could use a good chunky guacamole to go with your fajita, and some chiles "torreados". Those are jalapenos that have been roasted whole,(till the skin is almost black and the chile is soft) then grill some whole onion slices, chop the onion, cover it all with soy...

    Dónde están los fajitas?

I like Claude's brisket marinade, but you have to be careful because if you use too much, it will be very salty. I think Stubbs makes a fajita marinade also. I figure, I can't make it any better than these, so i take the easy way out.

    GOSM or Vault?

I have both os thse models. This may be a long post, but I'll do my best to let yu know what I think of each smoker: Smoke Vault (24 inch model): It is a heavier gauge metal than the GOSM. It also comes well packaged with no dents. (ask the other GOSM owners about tht!). It also does not...

    Hello from El Paso TX.

From the west side near Franklin High School. I got an older model of the GOSM too, and I really like it. It's my "go to" smoke whenever my and my friends have cook offs just because I know what it will do and what it wont do. I'm sure you enjoy your's as much as I enjoy mine. And with this...
