So if anyone else needs help with the Masterbuilt Thermotemp or Thermotemp XL try these things: 1. Add plumbers tape to the thermocouple threads. 2.Tighten the thermocouple brass nut as tight as possible. TIGHT! 3. Raise the flame sensor. The picture is where my sensor height is at.- AndrewW

I ended up messing with it more and got it working too! I totally removed the thermocouple thinking I'd go buy a new thermocouple. But I decided to reinstall it first. So I did. I tightened that brass nut until it was just starting to round off the corners. And I raised the flame sensor about...- AndrewW

Masterbuilt ThermoTemp XL - model 20051316
I just put together a thermotemp for my brother's birthday and I had the same "won't stay lit" issue. Lots of internet searching helped very little until I came here. Long story short, I detached, reattached, and tightened the brass nut until I was about to strip the corners off. It literally...- AndrewW

Hey Brass Man How tight did you have to make that thermocouple nut? I made it as tight as I could with a crescent wrench. I just put one together for my brother's birthday and it won't stay lit. Reading online I found out this is a common problem. But everyone online just complained and no one...- AndrewW
