The cc ends I had torch cut, where I got pipe. I used 1/4" for the firebox end as it was easier for me to fabricate. I used right angle grinder, cut off blade, and recirc saw with 'toothed' metal blade(s).
The outside is painted with krylon heat resistant paint. No paint inside. Cleaned inside really, Really well. Burned hot fire. After cooling, vegetable oiled the inside and grates, burned a hot fire again.
Second 'test' burn. I was stoking the fire wondering how in the world the temp inside the smoker could possibly be only 200. Big roaring fire in the firebox. So, I started up the bluetooth thermometer and put it in the cooker. Guess what. At this moment it is reading 425 inside the cook...
Thanks. It is so hot here in Pennsylvania that It is almost impossible to work on it too much (it's outside). Hopefully I should pretty much wrap up the 'basics' by the weekend and get cooking.
I put this thing together enough to get an initial 'burn' going. I went to 300 fairly quickly. I noticed some leaks on the door so I'll cut those flanges off and try again. I am content with this 'first build,' 'first serious welding project.' I think it'll work. Not pretty, but it'll work.
