First reverse flow smoker build - may have some questions

mob it’s awesome. It’s a Vulcan 220. I’ve never hit the duty cycle on it. I’ve done 6’ welds and I’m a slow welder haha. I did have one issue with it, I think something happened in the power cord for the 220. It stopped working. I just took it back to harbor freight and said it wasn’t working...

First reverse flow smoker build - may have some questions

Yeah I let it warm up gradually. What I actually did was put in 6 pans for water and the temps stayed +/- 2 degree on each side. thanks for the info!

First reverse flow smoker build - may have some questions

So... Since I messed up and didn't take pictures of the first cook, here's the second so far. I added another section of pipe to the exhaust and it seems to be holding more evenly. This is what I call thin blue smoke! I had to get up on the truck to take a picture against the black roof to...

Air movement advice needed - Ok Joe/Mod/Auto fan

I added what turned out to be a 4-1/4"x2' exhaust pipe and a plenum and it pulls a lot better. Not as good as my custom built reverse flow. But way better than the stock.

@Malcolm B what's the length of the bell on each side? From the weld to the outer most part.

    600 Gal RF build

@dkmiller16 I would definitely suggest 2 doors. A single door on that big of a tank is going to be extremely heavy. You could counterweight it to make it lighter. But, personally I like the 2 door approach especially if I am doing different meats.

    600 Gal RF build

@dkmiller16 if you are looking for calculations, you can follow daveomak's tutorial. I created a calculator site that does part of it for you, up to where you have to calculate the opening. Once you get up to that part, you're going to have to follow the part in daveomaks starting at "This...

Reverse Flow Smoker... How to calculate build tutorial...

@daveomak would these calculations work for an offset as well? I want to see about modifying my Oklahoma Joe to get some more airflow. If I use your equations, my exhaust pipe is about 20" too short haha

I have to agree with @fivetricks, you may want to see if you can find a bigger tank ;)

    Exhaust to FB Door Interference

as long as it is gets past the stack and plenum, it'll be good. Another question, why two stacks?

    Exhaust to FB Door Interference

Why not put the door for the firebox to the far right side (where the vents are)?
