mob it’s awesome. It’s a Vulcan 220. I’ve never hit the duty cycle on it. I’ve done 6’ welds and I’m a slow welder haha.
I did have one issue with it, I think something happened in the power cord for the 220. It stopped working. I just took it back to harbor freight and said it wasn’t working...
So... Since I messed up and didn't take pictures of the first cook, here's the second so far.
I added another section of pipe to the exhaust and it seems to be holding more evenly.
This is what I call thin blue smoke! I had to get up on the truck to take a picture against the black roof to...
I added what turned out to be a 4-1/4"x2' exhaust pipe and a plenum and it pulls a lot better. Not as good as my custom built reverse flow. But way better than the stock.
@dkmiller16 I would definitely suggest 2 doors. A single door on that big of a tank is going to be extremely heavy. You could counterweight it to make it lighter. But, personally I like the 2 door approach especially if I am doing different meats.
@dkmiller16 if you are looking for calculations, you can follow daveomak's tutorial.
I created a calculator site that does part of it for you, up to where you have to calculate the opening. Once you get up to that part, you're going to have to follow the part in daveomaks starting at "This...
@daveomak would these calculations work for an offset as well? I want to see about modifying my Oklahoma Joe to get some more airflow. If I use your equations, my exhaust pipe is about 20" too short haha
From what I have researched a longer stack will pull air up into the stack BUT it will cool down as it gets to the top of the stack this that air will become heavier and not escape the stack.
I would suggest what @daveomak said about the vent across the firebox cook chamber opening.
You...
Yeah so the bottom of the firebox door is at about 6" high. That's also right where the grate sits in the firebox - the grate is expanded metal. The Ash pan sits right on the bottom of the firebox and slides right in. All I have to do is pull it out and dump it out.
This is probably the best...
My firebox is 30" tall x 30" deep x 40" wide and it works great. I went 40" wide to match the width of the tank.
I have an Ash pan that's about 6" off the bottom of the box. I've done 2 cooks on it and it isn't full yet...
