I've seen many folks use a WEber 22.5 Kettle lid for their UDS.  My doesn't fit, the lip on the drum makes it unable to get a good fit.  I'd imagine that this is a fairly common problem.  What did you do to fix this?  I'd imagine you can cut the lip off, but I'd guess there might be better alternatives.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Shoot us some Q-view of the situation and someone will offer suggestions.

I welded my Weber lid to the drum lid and then cut out the center of the drum lid. Nice tight fit especially with some rope gasket. Not sure if the link will work since I'm on an earlier version of Internet Explorer. If it doesn't, I will fix it when I get home from work.

I just watched your video the other night actually. How is that rope gasket holding up?

It's holding up great. No issues and still no smoke seeping through when the lid is closed.

Awesome- what size did you go with- 3/4"?

To be honest, I can't remember for sure but I want to say it is either 1/2" or 5/8". 3/4" would probably work just as well. You might need to stretch it out a bit to get a good fit in the drum lid channel.

Thanks Chad.  I've been watching your vids on youtube.  It's an option, but I'd prefer keep my kettle intact so I can use it as well.
