Two years ago, I wanted to smoke a fresh ham, and the butcher wouldn’t sell just one half of the ham, so I just bought the whole thing and had them cut it in half. Stuck in 11 pound piece in the freezer wrapped as well as I could and cling wrap and a big Ziploc bag and even try to remove the air from it. I end up not being able to smoke it over the weekend because it rained all weekend. So the meat has sat in the bottom of my fridge for nine days including the fall time which was probably three days or so. Should I go ahead and smoke it or just toss it? I hate to waste it, but I also don’t want to eat it if it’s been on safe from sitting in the fridge fault for five days or so.

Should have made a few edits. Thaw time, not fall time.

Toss it! After three days, it's cook it or toss it!

I agree with others the smell test should tell you. My wife wouldn’t eat it so I would be on my Own and she would taint the kids minds as well, haha. I would a pulled ham with that baby.

9 days.... TOSS IT. Not worth the gamble IMO.
Thanks for all the advice. I’ll check the smell but will likely err on the side of caution. Especially since I’d hesitate giving it to others under the circumstances and 11 pounds is a lot for me to eat. My wife wouldn’t eat much of it under any circumstances. Not a big meat eater.

Btw by fresh ham I mean uncured raw pork leg.

I agree with tossing it. No sense in taking the risk.
