Mrs. Shooter and I returned friday night after a long 12 1/2 hr. drive back stopping for fuel, food, and leg cramps only. PHEW! Getting a bit old for that kind of push! We have tons of pics on 2 cameras. My post is only the last leg of the trip as family pics are on Sandys Camera and to post everything would crash the site! LOL. Day one we drove 10 hrs to St. Louis to see mom and sis and other family. Day 3 we drove 5.5 hrs to Cameron MO. just north of KC to see kids and grandkids. Day 6 we drove to Eureka Springs Arkansas to a wonderful mountain lodge called Sugar Ridge Lodge. Several wild visiters came to the lodge and I can only assume some folks have been feeding them cause at one point a family of 5 racoons tried to follow us into our cabin! Later a grey fox came up in front of the cabin and posed for 30 minutes or more! DON'T FEED WILD ANIMALS! They were almost tame and a pain at times.
Day 7 twp nice ladies were called in for a hour massage for each of us! That afternoon we went into the quaint town of Eureka Springs and took trollies everywhere we went. Had a Ok supper at a local place called Horizon. Friday we left Eureka Springs at 8:30 am and drove straight back. The first hour of the drive coming out of the Ozark mountains was 40-45 miles an hour with tunnels and switchbacks. At one point a rock slide had taken out half the road! As we crossed the tip of Louisiana to Mississippi to connect with I 55 hwy a small town had the state hwy blocked off for a homecoming parade. Well what do ya do. We got out of the truck and watched the parade! LOL...
