Just found the forum this week and joined, while searching for info on the Camp Chef Smoke Vault and the Landmann 38".
I've been smoking for 7 or 8 years probably. Started with a cheap offset charcoal smoker. I had trouble maintaining temps, and didn't like how much it took to keep it going.
I got a small propane smoker a few years ago, and have loved it. I've been very happy with the results on ribs, pork shoulder, brisket. Unfortunately, it's to small to fit a full rack, and it doesn't hold nearly enough ribs for a big party.
So I just ordered a Smoke Vault 24, and it'll be here by the weekend or early next week. Can't wait to break it in, and learn how it works. For July 4th, I'll be doing 9 or 12 racks, so I need to get it broken in quickly.
I'm looking forward to ideas from the forum on using the Camp Chef, and mods folks have done.
