Hello
Quick intro; I'm sortof new to meat smoking and just purchased a Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker. A couple buddies also have this model and I spent a bunch of time researching using this model as a baseline. At the end of my search I liked the ability to add wood without opening the door, so I bought one.
I came to purchase a smoker as a result of wanting a new grill. My wife scoffed at me spending more than $1,000 so I decided to keep my old grill and purchased the smoker for less than $200.
I’ve been throwing wood in my gas grill for years and so I look at this as an extension of what I’ve always done. I’m so excited I can’t wait to get up in the morning. I took a moving dolly and cut it down to size so that my smoker just sits on it and all I do is roll it out of the garage and into the driveway. How easy is that?
Tomorrow, Saturday, morning will be my inaugural use. I purchased a 6.5# pork butt at Aldi for $1.59#. I’ve been reading quite a bit and realize the biggest obstacle is time, so I’ll be patient. Thanks to all the contributors out there who have schooled me to do this. I’m happy to have found this web site! - D
