Last week we had someone leave a letter on my business partner's door asking if we would be willing to help them out with a charity event. After talking to the organizer, we agreed to do just that. Starting Thursday morning we will be cooking upwards of 1,400 lbs of Boston Butt for Friday. We will be one of three smokers that will be there including this giant Klose. http://www2.journalnow.com/lifestyles/2011/jun/08/smokin-060811-ar-1100434/
If you are local, you are welcome to swing by the Masonic Temple at 34 Miller St, Winston-Salem, NC between the hours of 11am and 11pm. You will have the opportunity to see all three pits in action and perhaps even some sampling.

Friday, October 5, 2012 Pork Barbecue
Over $63,000 Raised for Masonic Charities since 2008 at Masonic Temple, 34 Miller Street, Winston-Salem
Five Masonic Lodges joined together for two pork barbecue fundraisers in 2011 for the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, Inc. and WhiteStone: Masonic and Eastern Star Home. The sponsoring lodges were Winston 167, Salem 289, West Bend 434, Piedmont-Pioneer 685, and Forsyth 707. For 2011 we are pleased to announce that $18,000 was raised for these two charities bringing our total event total since 2008 to over $63,000. Thank you for your continuing support. YOU make it all possible. Mark your calendar for Friday, October 4, 11 to 7 for the next pork barbecue at the Masonic Temple - deliveries at lunch, eat-in, or take-out - Bulks sales available. As before the meal is $9.00 for smoked pork barbecue, red BBQ slaw, BBQ potatoes, and freshly fried Sweet Betsy Hushpuppies. We are even making arrangements to sell the BBQ sauce as the requests keep coming in.
We need your help with this event! Are you available to volunteer Friday during lunch and help us deliver 600 lunches to various businesses that have placed bulk orders? If your business would like 10+ plates or trays of BBQ for your staff, please contact Cliff or Joey! Phone numbers at end of this newsletter.
This fall additional pit masters are joining us from Virgina and right here in Winston-Salem. All the pit masters will be sharing "some", but not all of their secrets. Join us Thursday evening for some fun fellowship around the pits. Come out and sample 'que and sauces from around the area.
