Hey all, I have a stack of this outside that was gifted to me. What is it and is it worth keeping?

I thought Ash when I saw the picture . Probably cut down because it was dying from Emerald Ash boring beetles .
Look for light spots or off color on the bark . Dime or nickle size .

Yeah, it's hard to identify from 2D photos.

It's not Oak, Hickory, or Pecan because they have distinct heartwood of a different color.

this is 100% 'TREE OF HEAVEN'-AILANTHUS - wood.

Also known as Chinese sumac , "stinking sumac"

It's close to the staghorn sumac I harvest as craft wood, i always come across it and pass, due to not being staghorn ( wood is florescent, it glows bright neon hues under blacklight). the wood is very soft.. It grows extremely fast.. so it might be bitter, not burn well? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I AM sure that is the wood, however. It's lightweight similar to ash in appearance, density.
