ya, its just like how an element is mounted in a stove. It mounts to the back, or if you want the side, and the wires run through the wall of the smoker.I can't tell does that brink man come with thermostat? I'm not getting a pie right away. The fridge I acquired is an old fridgedair, only 5 feet high...
Was planning on amns for smoke to start with. When you mount element to side do you out great shield over it?

NOT this one. http://www.amazon.com/Brinkmann-812-3323-0-Smokeshop-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B0000AUSHQ/ref=pd_sim_86_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=41jsTeuqxXL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0Y5TTMENSVP7XNVXSH0D
reason being the one I recommend mounts to the wall of the smoker, the one I don't recommend mount through the bottom of the smoker, creates a place for grease and water to seep into the bottom. Also harder to move the element when cleaning under it.
