OP here....just realized i never updated the results.
well, never did get the butt up to temp for pulling. Even after 6 hours in the oven. So we cut a few chunks off.
BUTT,,,
the next day, the wife put it in the crockpot. That was some of the best pulled pork we ever had. Having a picnic next week. I might smoke a butt Thursday or Friday and put it in the crock pot Saturday for the picnic.
Not sure why it never came to temp.
