Fantastic Job. I am needing some help (from the tech side) on my cooker idea. Here is my thought (its redneck at best). 55 gallon metal drum with lid standing upright. What I need is to heat the inside of this barrel up to 400 - 425 degrees and be able to control it. I thought about using an electric smoker element such as a meco replacement element, but just not sure I can get it to that temp. If anyone has any ideas on how I might accomplish this I would love to hear your thoughts. Simple is good.
I saw in this conversion thread that they had mounted the oven element on the back wall. Is there any drawbacks to that? It would let me not put in drip trays, just foil on the bottom for easy clean-up. The warmer I have is 42" deep, so I won't miss the few inches there.
