Just starting with the small electric smoker. Have a 300 gal. Fuel oil tank converted to a firewood water smoker, but haven't cut firewood for awhile! Looking for easy and products comparable to the big cooker! Cold here on and off in Southern Indiana!

Can you tell me little more about this tank prior to you using it for a smoker ?

I see a safety concern  and was curious if you addressed it prior to your using the Tank?

. My Mechinic friend built this watersmoker on a house trailer axle! A partition was installed one forth through with three holes at the top for smoke and steam to pass . Air chimney from three inches off the bottom in the front draws smoke past two large 4' grates. The small area has angle iron to hold the frabricated water pan and bottom is lined with fire brick. A stove door with dampeners was installed to load wood and adjust air! Later installed a blower to keep the temp regulated!

Do you have any pics of this? Since it was previously used as a 300 gal oil tank ? Did you do anything special to it before your built started to assure it was safe to use for the purpose you are intending?

I will explain more after as to why I am asking?
