We had our traditional Thanksgiving at my parents in Indiana on Thursday. We returned home for the weekend and it was time for a smoking Thanksgiving! I couldn't pass up trying Jeff's maple turkey from his newsletter:
Money shot getting ready for an overnight brine:
Maple syrup added, applying Jeff's rub:
This is a 20# turkey so I was worried and monitoring the danger zone. We hit 140 right at 4 hours smoking around 185 with a mix of cherry and apple. The below is 3 hours in and ready to mop:
Pulled at 165 after just around 7 hours on the WSM and rested double wrapped in foil for an hour:
Final products:
With stuffing, taters and gravy, corn casserole:
Double layer pumpkin cheesecake:
And a traditional pecan pie:
Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed your holiday.
