Just bought an electric smoker today. A brinkman. Gonna try to do a whole chicken tomorrow. Been into smoked meats for quite sometime just now getting into the hobby of doing it myself and read on alot of sites the an electric smoker is good for a novice to start off with!

Welcome to SMF !!!
Good luck on your 1st smoke and if you haven't done so yet, be sure and fire up that new smoker and burn off the oils on the new metal and season the interior walls with lard, vegetable oil or just spray them with Pam. Then smoke some wood chips through it before adding your food. Don't want your first smoke tasting like new metal.
