Hello, all!  Name is Michael, AKA 3LakesSmoker, from northern Wisconsin.  I've been using a Weber Performer grill for a dozen years, the one with a propane starter for the charcoal built-in.  About 3 years ago, I got the "Smokenator" attachment and have been smoking pork butts and making pulled pork, which QUICKLY became a family favorite.

Feeling that I've outgrown that capable little system, last weekend I ordered up an Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn at one of the local big-box stores, and it's getting picked-up tomorrow.  In the meantime, I've been viewing videos & reading up a LOT on the Smoker, and have ordered the prerequisite mods, covers, etc which will likely all deliver in the next week or two.  In my research, I fell upon this group here, and from what I've read, y'all sound like the kind of people I'd like to get to know.

I plan to smoke more butts, chicken, and briskets; at least to start.  Looking forward to interacting with the group!

Well, just picked it up yesterday; worked today and tomorrow; but have snagged a co-worker to help with the build Thursday afternoon.  Also on Thursday, I'm supposed to get the accessories I ordered.  (Charcoal basket, gasket kits, tuning baffles and door-clamps).  So I "hope" to get it all done in one fell swoop!  To complicate matters, I'm staying with my wife at the Lake house while all this is going on.  The good news is that "home" is only 15 minutes from the Lake house.  So a lot of running around!  And thanks!! for the warm welcome!

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a partly cloudy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.

Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
