I was thinking to make it like the weber and put holes all over that charcoal pan and add 2 vents like Weber bottom dampers on that base. [emoji]129300[/emoji] looks good so far like that though .. cool

Right...I'm with ya...I'll continue to modify as time goes on...right now, it seems to be doing just what I want... I'm starting with a few simple mods because I KNOW I've gone over board before...over thinking and doing more than is needed.
I've got 5 smokers now...lol...
And an UDS we're building slowly but surely at our hunt fish camp.

Yeah...just.looked it up...
They do.look nice.
Should be comparable to the WSM 22 for a hundred bucks cheaper.
I've got a TSC just up the road...gonna have to see if they've got a display model.

One guy said he uses a digiQ or partyQ and gets 14 hour cooks. He also used a gasket around the base where the body sits. The door is stainless steel too.. it's got the hinged lid and 3 racks.. holds 20 lbs charcoal

So I'm almost six hours into the smoke with no ash clogging issues and temps are still steady in the 235° range. I am going to have to add more charcoal soon so a charcoal basket will be the next probable mod...so far, so good.

My idea exactly...got a grate just s bit smaller than the grate I'm using...figured I'd just wrap a piece of expanded steel around it...wire it together and set it right on top of what I've got...
Should work great.

So, I'm seven hours in...temps still in the 234-237° range...has been the entire smoke once she settled in...
Haven't added charcoal yet...
Stirred it once a bit to knock some of the ash off...
Really happy with the results of my mods...after over seven hours,no sign of ash clogging anything up...still got several hours to go so we'll see, bit it appears I'm in great shape.
Gonna open it up and prob temp at eight hours to see where I'm at.

Was gonna use it in the ECB pan but I bought a tabletop kettle grill and put a few dozen holes in that with expanded steel in bottom.. that allows good venting and ash control as it sits inside my steel bushel basket that also has Dampers
