i have been given some cherry wood to smoke with , its an ordimental cheery not a specific fruit sort, does that matter?

also for use in a weber what sizes should i cut it up to, i was thinking 2 inches long and square after chopping up

You should be fine with that cherry, and yes that chunk size will work though you could also probably burn some longer pieces and save yourself a bit of cutting.

thank you both for the replies

i was going to match the chunks i have seen on the videos so i was going for small fist sized, with no bark  and seasoned for a few months

which i dont get by the way, why dry the wood to season it and then soak it in water before use?

so season only untill dry and ready for use. i take it i can chop them up to hasten the drying process

i am looking to collect a few woods, cherry was by accident , oak i was looking for as well as hazel is also avalible
