Hi everyone,
I've been reading on the forum for about a year and wanting to buy a smoker. Life was a bit busy though to do it. Finally getting ready to buy and start smoking. I love eating good bbq just never tried making myself. Trying to decide what smoker to get electric or pellet any input? The less tending to it to keep temp the better for me that's why I think electric or pellet is best for me. For electric thought a MES 30 or 40, or one of the Bradleys with the biscuits loader. For pellet there was thinking around $500 maybe something like

Any input would be appreciated. I plan making a big variety of stuff once I get going. Including want to do a turkey for thanksgiving this year. Looking forward to learning more.

Chris327, welcome to SMF! Glad you are here and excited about starting a smoky journey.

I'm a charcoal'er so can't help you with the electric or pellet. I have my charcoal'er set up as a set and forget with a temp controller. Another option to consider.

Have fun!

The two best MES 40s are model # 20070311 or the Bluetooth unit. I don't think you will be thilled with the Traeger. The low end units work marinally at best. Bradley's work but are expensive to operate. The proprietory bisket ain't cheap and it eats them up fast. Look into a AMNPS pellet smoke generator for the MES...JJ

Thank you everyone. JJ I will look at those 2 MES then thanks for the input. Noboundaries that's a new option never knew you can even do that. Now that I looked into it its an option thanks.

thanks guys ill check out the NJ group. and im north jersey Wayne area.

Likely ordering the mes 40. Only thing im considering still is the grilla grill silverbac. More money but not sure if im gunna regret not getting the pellet grill which seems you can do more with. Anything else i should be looking at in that price range of up to $700. Or any input on the grilla grills. Seen alot of good reviews on them.
