First off I'm a guy that doesn't open up. But a quick back ground my mom is going in to surgery for breast cancer and will start radiation and chemo. So she loves jerky and loves my deer jerky. So I'm out of the meat I use for my deer jerky so I cut up five pounds of deer roast. Don't worry I had gotten five deer this year given to me so I have plenty of meat. So I started my cure I'm using cabelas teriyaki Friday night and I will start the smoker Sunday morning. And Wednesday I thought why stop there so I pulled out my salmon and smoked her about 3 to 4 pounds of salmon will post pictures of that as well. Hope you guys enjoy the pics

First off, prayers for your mother's speedy recovery, next, your a great person to do something like this for her.

The salmon looks very good! Double check with her oncologist, when we had a family member going through chemo, they couldn't eat certain items.

One of the last mixing of the jerky. It's getting a little harder to mix so it's ready and color looks good

I would hope it's what any son would do. Or at least I hope so. She always said help someone else because you don't know when you will need help.

Prayers for your Mom and ditto what Cranky said. I know your heart is in the right place, but between Doc's restrictions and the effects of chemo, don't be hurt if she can't or won't eat it. Chemo is a beast. It can change your taste buds, palate sensitivities, even hair color.

My prayers for your mom and your family. I have been in the cancer fighting business, both clinically and commercially for 25+ years. There usually aren't too many restrictions on diet and they like patients to eat and maintain nutrition. But sometimes the chemo can affect the taste and smell. Keeping a positive attitude is important. Trust me when I tell you, the advances in cancer treatment in the last 20 years has been incredible. I have seen and used them. God Speed.

Oh, and points to you for making your mom some deer jerky.

Prayers for your Mother and fr the rest of the family.  What she's going through touches the lives of everyone around her.  She'll need your strength and encouragement as much as she needs her own.  May God bless you and comfort you one and all.
