I haven't gone to pick it up yet. It needs lots of clean-up. Here are some pics from his building:

I plan on using propane as the heat source.    What do I need to look for when going through and remodeling it?

Hello and Welcome.  Looks a good one!  There are many things but start at the start and then move on.  The first thing is the insulation.  Some of these old fridges had cardboard insulation.  So you need to separate inner shell from outter shell to determine what insulation is in there.  Also how much insulation is in there.  The insulation must be fire proof and the more insulation you can get into it the better it retains heat.  Also the insulation may be wet.  So in that case there must be a leak some place.  Obviously if any of the adverse conditions are found the insulation should be replaced or added to.  Just where I would start.  Keep asking any questions and we will try to help.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

It looks it; but is that metal interior?  From the age I would say it should be treated metal.  Probably enamel coated?  Keep Smokin!

It looks like enamel coated metal to me.  Is that bad?  What would you recommend I do with it?
