MES 40 or Bradley Original

Hello all,  looking at two electric smokers. MES 40 and Bradley.  I had a MES 30 and always had trouble keeping smoke. In fact quit using the tray all together after getting the AMNPS. The idea of the generator is nice but can you control the amount of smoke it puts out? I've heard of Gen 1 & 2 MES40, how do you distinguish which you get?  Been through 2 control units on my MES 30.  I do a lot of cold smoking. With the Bradley can you use the generator without putting heat into the unit? Obviously with the either unit I could just use the AMNPS.

Gen1 has the controller on the top at the back. Gen2 has the controller on top at the front near the door.

Can't help with the Bradley but hear they are real nice units.

Look into the Smokin' It lineup of electric smokers. Great quality.
