Cheesy meatloaf burger

Made up 5 pounds of 90% lean burger into meatloaf and meatballs this afternoon.  After getting everything on the trays for cooking, I had enough burger left to make a healthy sized patty, so on the smoker it went along with the loaf and meatballs.

took it to 160° IT, pulled it, added a slice of cheddar, nuked it for 20 seconds to melt the cheese and dug in!  Kinda weird tasting meatloaf flavors in a hamburger, but not too danged shabby!  At least the excess burger didn't go to waste and the experiment was a success :sausage:

Hiya Danny,

I've had smoked hamburgers before and love a meatloaf sammie and even the smoked meatballs, but can honestly say I've never had a meatloaf burger until today.

Looks tasty!

We add all kinds of stuff to our burgers before letting them hit the flame. Peppers, onions, feta, quinoa, rice, ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, just mix it all up like meatloaf form patties and put it in the smoker. Serve with garlic mashed taters and gravy, OH Yeah!

Guess I've led a sheltered life.  Quinoa, really?  I've heard it is pretty tasty prepared kinda like oatmeal as a breakfast cereal, but I've never tried it.  It has become very "Chefy" of late

I do make some killer burgers my kids nicknamed Pappa burgers.  They have egg, onion and a bit of flour as a binder.  Brown 'em really well on both sides, add water to the halfway point on the burgers, cover and cook until the water has reduced to a gravy and serve.  I like yellar mustard on minethumb1%20copy.gif
