Mule's smoked whole chicken on the BGE with Qview

It has been a while since I posted a smoke. Nothing special. It's just a 5.5 pound whole yard bird on my small BGE. I am using Ozark Oak lump with oak for smoke.

Here I am getting the BGE up to temp. I got a small shovel of coals out of the fire place to get it started..

 

Last night I rubbed it down with my home made rub. I am using a beer can chicken rack with no can to hold it up.

Here it is going on the BGE

I'm doing two yard birds and some wings in the snow here a bit later... what kind of rub do you put on that bad boy?

It is a Home made rub. I have been working on it for about 7 years. Pretty much have it where I want it.

That my friends is a smoked yard bird in 20° temps with 25 MPH wind. That is where a BGE shines.

Makes me want to ignore the minus 12 weather and fire up the smoker, almost. Good looking bird!
