Hey guys,

Over the last couple weeks I had been wanting to get a meat smoker and had been on this forum looking at reviews to decide which style and model best fits my needs. I decided that for me an electric smoker would be a good to start out with and one day I may progress to the others. I had settled on the masterbuilt 30' but wasn't quite ready to purchase one yet. This past sunday however, I was walking through a hardware store and saw one, just one sitting hidden behind some other items, and it was 30% cheaper then any I had seen online. Of course I was skeptical and opened it and made sure it was ok then found out it was only on sale because no one had been showing any interest and they wanted to move it. Needless to say I m a proud new owner of a masterbuilt 30'. As per instructions on this forum I have seasoned it and did my first 2-2-1 rib smoke which came out great (I was kicking myself for forgetting to take pictures) . Any way looking forward to learning from all you guys on here. Pics to come.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Would you mind updating your profile to show the other SMF members where you are located?  Might meet some neighbors!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a Kindle Fire, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Welcome to the forums!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Congrats on the new MES and the first successful smoke.  Now don't forget the qview next time!
