flower pot smoker

well I was bored this week and I wanted to start smoking some grub.. so I was doing some reading and want to build myself a little smoker.. so I decided to go with the ceramic flower pot smoker. with an electric hot plate a couple of pie tins and grate and a gasket.. should be ready to go.

I did a dry run and got nice blue smoke for about an hour and got up to 215-225 degrees.. I'm thinking that will work for some smoking... I might need a higher watt hot plate. but let's see what happens.

Interesting! Any chance we can get a pic of the innards? I'd love to see how you have it set up in there

Nice!  Thats the kind of smoker i started off with.  the only thing that stinks is the size limitations.  I also found it was not usable in the winter without a better burner... wouldnt get up to temp... have fun, learn the ropes with it, and find a way to upgrade down the road.

yep!  i just finished turning an old gas oven into an electric smoker.  my little smoker lasted me two summers... well worth it.
